The final entry nominated for an Edgar Award in the Best Novel category is Field Gray, by Philip Kerr.  I read half of this novel and gave up.  The story was turgid and hard to follow, essentially told through a series of flashbacks by the main character, Bernie Gunther, who is German and a former cop.  He details his exploits during World War II, while being interrogated in 1954 for something I was unclear about.  I can’t rate this novel.  (And if it wins the Edgar, I’m a dope.)
